The low temperature performance of fluorosilicone oil makes it have irreplaceable application value in extreme low temperature environments such as polar regions. The following are the core characteristics and application analysis:
1. Low temperature performance advantages
Wide temperature range adaptability
The lower limit of the working temperature is -60℃ (some models such as DX-8012 series can reach -40~-47℃), and the viscosity is still maintained at 5200~20000 mPa·s at -18℃ (different viscosity models vary), which is much better than conventional mineral oil.
The Si-O bond energy in the molecular chain is high, and the trifluoropropyl side chain enhances the flexibility of the molecule to avoid low temperature embrittlement.
Low temperature fluidity retention
The viscosity-temperature coefficient is small: the viscosity is only 5.3~10.3 mPa·s at 204℃, and the viscosity ratio at -18℃ is less than 1:4000, indicating that the low temperature fluidity is stable.
The freezing point is as low as -47℃ (low viscosity model), ensuring the pumping performance in extremely cold environment.
Enhanced low temperature lubricity
The surface tension is as low as 20~25 mN/m, forming an oleophobic film on the metal surface to reduce cold start friction and wear.
The CF₃ group assembled film reduces the friction coefficient of the steel-steel boundary and is suitable for high-precision machinery.
2. Core applications in polar environment
(I) Mechanical lubrication and sealing
Application scenario Technical solution Performance advantages
Bearings of polar scientific research equipment DX-8012 series fluorosilicone grease -47℃ maintain lubricity, anti-freezing adhesion
Aviation hydraulic system Fluorosilicone oil-based aviation lubricant -55℃ normal start (such as polar routes)
Field vehicle seals Fluorosilicone rubber composite seal rings Resistant to -60℃ compression permanent deformation
(II) Special equipment protection
Sensor packaging: Fluorosilicone potting glue maintains elasticity at -50℃ to protect the circuit of polar monitoring equipment.
Oil pipeline valves: Fluorosilicone coating prevents ultra-low temperature fuel leakage and withstands corrosion from diesel and hydraulic oil.
(III) Emergency treatment materials
Chemical leak adsorption: Low-viscosity fluorosilicone oil (such as 8012-300) is used for polar leak treatment of chlorinated hydrocarbons and is still fluid at -40°C.
