Rational thinking in external communication
——Talk with Chen long, Dean of School of media, Suzhou University

Wang Yongping: in the current time when we have very close contact with international affairs and hold international field of Vision Forum in external communication, I think it's very timely and fully demonstrates the style of our school of communication.
Chen Long: on the one hand, this is the meeting we originally planned. On the other hand, as you all know, the Sino-U.S. trade war now tends to be a closing stage. As the Sino-U.S. trade friction changes from friction and conflict to slow coordination, the overall heat of this process is declining. But there are still many problems in China's foreign communication in this trade war, which is worth summarizing now. That is to say, how to communicate with the outside world, how to transmit the voice of China, and how to communicate with people all over the world, we have been paying attention to it as a research topic. Last year, we held the first foreign communication forum, this is the second one, but the theme has been slightly adjusted. This time, the theme has fallen into a major change. Because it's really a big change. Some new situations, new phenomena and new problems have emerged. We haven't met them in the past, but they have emerged today. How can we deal with them? This is what we need to think about now, so it's also a very urgent research topic, so we'll bring you together.
Wang Yongping: so I say it's very timely. First of all, I want to give a compliment to the school of media of Su University.
Chen Long: Thank you.
Wang Yongping: today, after listening to the lectures of these experts and scholars, I found that they are really thinking deeply and studying these problems in detail.
Chen Long: in fact, I have written several articles in this field. The main thing is that communication is an art. Now we are talking about communication. In fact, communication means communication. How to communicate with people of other countries? We did have a lot of lessons in the past. For example, the exaggeration and supremacy in domestic propaganda and various styles of writing not long ago are actually a kind of flood of nationalism in our field of external communication, and its influence is very bad. On the one hand, it turns out that we live in harmony and peace with other countries in the world, because the wave of nationalism in our country, especially the poor foreign language situation and style, has caused a misunderstanding of us by the foreign people, especially the language situation of "severe, our country" and the language style of "scared urine", which have left a bad impression on the foreign people Like, but we are not aware of it, but we cater to some of their narrow nationalism. In fact, it's not worth it to publicize in this way.
Wang Yongping: in a sense, it may bring a lot of adverse effects on our image of a big country.
Chen Long: Yes, it has a lot of negative effects. So this is also a trick used by some Western hostile forces to attack us, saying that we are "an attempt to expand" and so on. They are all used to publicize this kind of theme, which has a bad impact on our national image.
Wang Yongping: so I think our external communication should be a two-way one: one is that we take the initiative to publicize our image of a big country; the other is how to face and express our image of a big country when there are various voices in the world. In the process of this work, what problems do you think exist now?
Chen Long: I think the first is to conduct extensive investigation and understanding of the national conditions and people's conditions of other countries. Because you don't understand, you can't respect the cultural differences between nations and countries. Without the respect of this culture, there can't be truly equal and harmonious external communication. The second task is what you just said, that is to say, the external world is equal, and the culture comes in and goes out in the same way. We always emphasize the external world, the external forced and compulsory communication, without how to get in the foreign culture, then this will form a one-way, one-sided and oppressive cultural hegemonic communication, which may be beneficial to our country Cultural image and national image are unfavorable. Then the third is to study our way of speech expression. In the past, we didn't pay attention to these details. Now, we should pay attention to how to spread the Chinese voice and tell the Chinese story in a way that the people of western countries like to hear and see. In other words, we can't take culture out of the world. We can only understand it as a superficial cultural communication, such as making dumplings and writing calligraphy. Instead, we should let western countries understand and understand China's cultural customs, political system, customs and people's conditions, especially China's current hot reform, scientific and technological development, and so on. We should have a comprehensive understanding. No It means that China's science and technology have progressed. The purpose of scientific progress is to control the world. Such a misunderstanding can't occur! So we must pay attention to our way of communication so that people in western countries can understand what we do? What do you want to do? What do you want to do in the future? What kind of image and culture should we build.
Wang Yongping: I think our theory is for practice, so as a media college, I think
In our teaching practice, we must be practicing the theories you just talked about. How do we do this?
Chen Long: first of all, because of the current changes in media technology, we are also changing our journalism and communication education. We need to adapt to the situation and keep pace with the times, and constantly improve our talent training system. So the most important thing here is to adapt to the needs of the current financial media reform. How can we make efforts to cultivate the "four talents", how can we train their "four forces", how can we understand and understand this form of financial media reform? So in practice, on the one hand, we have increased the strength of technical practice and technical training in terms of big data, algorithm technology and short video; on the other hand, we have adapted to the needs of new media reform, especially social media and traditional media reform, and we have also strengthened the writing training of this new media, especially social media style, instead of It's a kind of training that completely imitates the traditional media's news writing and communication ability, so it's a kind of change. We also pay attention to the renewal of theoretical knowledge in this change, absorb some advanced theoretical knowledge, and eliminate some outdated theories that have lost this practical guiding significance. This is a curriculum system reform, focusing on cultivating students' practical ability Power. In this respect, we put forward a practical ability oriented talent training system, which consists of three modules: curriculum, classroom, teaching, production, learning and research platform, as well as "the second classroom" and "Trinity". So in teaching and education, we have unified the theory teaching and practice teaching, strengthened the practice, and set up the media practice course. This media practice course has been offered from the beginning to the senior year. It is rolling every year. This workshop style mode of master and apprentice is used to cultivate and train students' all-round abilities of creativity, planning, hands-on, editing and production. Therefore, in the aspect of curriculum teaching and practical ability training, we integrate the requirements of "four all" talents into our whole talent training system.
Wang Yongping: we often say that a person's working method is to obey his idea. So I think it's very important for us to establish the correct "Three Outlooks" of students, especially the students we train. They will become the main force for the social communication in the future. So in this respect, I think how does the communication college of Jiangsu University devote itself to it?
Chen Long: first of all, we should pay attention to this kind of education, and put it into practice in the teaching of professional courses, so the professional ideological and political education is also reflected in the talent training system of our college. Pay attention to guiding students, cultivate their correct world outlook, outlook on life and values, and cultivate their correct and healthy ideology and thinking system. We start from the history of news and Chinese history, and then go to the reality of our reform to run it through, so that students can understand a truth: what kind of people do we want to be, what kind of journalists do we want to be, and what kind of media people do we want to be? In the face of the complex social dynamics in the era of consumer society and the impact of the social ideological trend in the East and the west, how do we, as media students, set up our own life coordinates, pursue our own life goals, realize the transformation of "Chinese dream" into our own life ideals and pursue our own goals? We have done a lot of work in this area.
