Fluorosilicone oil is a vinyl-terminated polymer, the main component of which is trifluoropropyl vinyl-terminated siloxane, and is a modified silicone oil product. It appears as a colorless or light yellow transparent or translucent liquid, odorless, and has a neutral pH value. Fluorosilicone oil has the characteristics of low surface tension, low refractive index, low friction coefficient, low volatility, solvent resistance, corrosion resistance, waterproof and oil resistance, electrical insulation, high and low temperature resistance, good low-temperature fluidity, wide operating temperature range (-40~240β), and excellent weather resistance. These characteristics make fluorosilicone oil an ideal base oil for the preparation of high-performance greases.
2. Application of fluorosilicone oil in the preparation of grease
Base oil:
Fluorosilicone oil can be used as the base oil of grease. By adding thickeners, stabilizers and modified additives, fluorosilicone grease or fluorosilicone paste with specific properties can be prepared.
Improved lubricity:
When trifluoropropyl silicone oil is used as the base oil of grease, the lubricity between steel and steel can be significantly improved. Its lubricity is significantly better than that of chlorophenyl silicone oil, and even better than mineral oil grease under high load.
Chemical corrosion resistance:
Grease prepared from fluorosilicone oil can resist various hydrocarbon solvents, strong acids (such as sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, fuming nitric acid), corrosive gases, and fuels and oxidizers used in missile rockets and other highly corrosive and oxidizing media.
Wide temperature range application:
Fluorosilicone oil grease has a wide operating temperature range and can maintain good lubrication performance at extreme temperatures. For example, the operating temperature range of some fluorosilicone oil greases can reach -73~232β.
Other applications:
Fluorosilicone grease can also be used for lubrication and sealing of valves in contact with corrosive compounds, as well as the preparation of high vacuum silicone paste, etc.
