Reasons and Analysis of Influencing Platinum Catalyst Poisoning

There are many chemicals known to cause "poisoning" in addition-cure potting silicones. Addition curing potting silicone When the "A" component is mixed with the "B" component, the platinum curing agent reacts and affects the curing reaction. Platinum loses its activity in contact with certain chemicals. Once the curing agent is deactivated or poisoned, the affected silicone area will never cure again, which means that the uncured area will remain fluid, sticky or liquid.

The curing "poisoning" is divided into different degrees. Affected areas range from completely uncured to a stick-slip state or a sticky surface. The degree of "poisoning" is determined by the type and amount of chemicals the silicone is exposed to.

Below is a partial list of common materials known to cause "poisoning". Note that this is by no means an exhaustive list of all question materials and is provided for informational purposes only.

Contains unsaturated bond components
Primers that may inhibit curing
Polyethylene with anti-slip, anti-oxidant, or other ingredients listed above
Pigmented base coats contain any of the previously listed ingredients
100% sodium chloride primers, such as sodium alginate or sodium hydroxymethylcellulose; however, these salts will not cause cure "poisoning" if used with hydroxyethylcellulose.
