Applications of High-Phenyl Content Silicone

Hits: 227 img

As a specialty silicone material, high-phenyl silicone rubber (phenyl content ≥30%) is primarily used for its extreme environmental resistance. Specifically, it can be categorized into the following areas:

1. Aerospace
Low-Temperature Seals: Used in spacecraft seals, pipes, and other components, they maintain elasticity over a wide temperature range of -100°C to 250°C, meeting the sealing requirements of satellite space stations and spacecraft environmental control systems.
Radiation-Resistant and Ablation-Resistant Materials: The high phenyl content imparts excellent resistance to cosmic rays and atmospheric re-entry ablation, enabling their use in protective components for equipment such as the Tianhe Core Module.

2. High-End Industrial Sector
New Energy Vehicles and AI Servers: With its high-temperature resistance up to 350°C, it is suitable for battery pack cooling systems and server thermal seals.
Highly Transparent Optical Devices: Using patented technologies, products with a transmittance exceeding 90% are produced for applications such as LED packaging and optical lenses.

3. Other Special Applications
Nuclear Industry Protection: Its radiation resistance makes it suitable for use as a sealing material in nuclear facilities.
Military Equipment: It is used as an ablation-resistant coating or encapsulation material for the protection of military electronic equipment.
Limitations and Challenges
Despite its outstanding performance, high-phenyl silicone rubber has the disadvantages of difficult processing and low mechanical strength. Formula optimization (such as the addition of silica reinforcement) is needed to improve processability.
