The toilet revolution has an important impact on the implementation of the Rural Revitalization Strategy. The exploration of planting the "competition unit of rural household toilet design scheme" in the 2019 rural planning scheme competition for college students majoring in urban and rural planning in national colleges and universities is worthy of affirmation and is of great significance. Although it is still only a scheme competition combining with the curriculum design of college students, there are some bright spots in the colorful and enlightening achievements, of course, some problems deserve special attention. No matter whether these achievements are mature or not, or how high they can be implemented, their thinking in the face of real problems, the establishment process of value positions and ideas, as well as various ideas put forward to solve the problems, and even the expression methods adopted to promote the achievements are enough to cause our serious thinking.

A survey of the current situation of Gaoya Village
Gaoya village is one of the common villages in the south of Shandong Province. There are no natural resources to be developed and no solid industrial foundation. Due to the overall relocation of the reservoir area, there are no historical and cultural resources left. It represents the common northern village and is one of the epitomes of thousands of villages in China.
After ten days of investigation from July 21 to July 30, 2019, we extracted three characteristics of Gaoya Village: sufficient sunshine, less precipitation and poverty, which also became the basis for the next targeted toilet reconstruction plan.
After family visits and field visits,
We have combed the current problems of toilets in Gaoya Village: poor sanitary conditions, obvious peculiar smell and a large number of flies and insects, incomplete lighting, ventilation and cleaning facilities, lack of fecal treatment devices, and no management of public toilets;
And summed up the needs of the villagers for toilets: hope to change the existing domestic dry toilets into water toilets, in the field of daily work and the future village square equipped with public toilets.
Investigate the current situation of toilets
Therefore, we put forward the overall idea of toilet renovation in Gaoya village - green, economic and regional.
Specifically, different requirements are put forward for the three types of toilets that we design and transform: household toilets, field toilets and square toilets.
Household toilets are more convenient, hygienic and environmentally friendly,
The public toilets in the field pursue water saving, easy maintenance and environmental protection,
The public toilets in the square pursue the image of good landscape, benefiting villagers and trees.

Transformation and design
Based on the field survey of toilets in a villager's house, we found that there are some problems that need to be improved, and we have carried out targeted transformation. Using flush toilets, we have increased the septic tank to realize the harmless treatment of feces, and the water-saving system to solve the water source problem and realize the recycling utilization, so as to achieve the goal of integrating space and indirectly improving the space utilization rate. It is true The right place makes life easier.

In the design of rural public toilets, in order to ensure fairness and convenient use of villagers, the service radius of square public toilets is planned to be 500m, and the service radius of four public toilets distributed in the field is planned to be 300m.
The rubble and wood used in the construction of the field public toilet of the excrement and urine diversity type are all locally sourced, which contains rich regional characteristics; in addition, it also uses an automatic ash pouring system driven by an electric motor, and the electric motor and indoor lighting lamps are powered by the roof solar panel, which is a full demonstration of the green and economic concept.

In Hetang square on the South Bank of Gaoya River, the design of public toilets should follow the principle of multiple functions, convenient life and combined landscape.
In addition to the basic functions of the toilets, the public toilets in the square also provide a rest platform facing the Gaoya River and directly connected with the viewing footpath.

The facade of the public toilet in the square is made of wood, rubble, brick and other materials. The building entity and the wooden overhead roof form a combination of virtual and real effects, which will produce amazing light and shadow effects at sunrise and sunset.

Research highlights
Simple folk custom
As soon as they entered the countryside, the team members were affected by the unique hospitality of Shandong countryside and influenced by Confucius' and Mencius' thoughts. We were shocked by the importance attached by the people here to the guest etiquette. The team members were welcomed by the local villagers, and we were invited by the enthusiastic villagers to be guests at home. Although the host guest etiquette on the table was a little complicated, it was interesting. We learned and understood the Confucian culture more deeply on the table. Shandong's staple food is mainly pasta, but the kitchen aunt, who is worried that we can't get used to pancakes, specially prepared rice and mung bean soup for us, which brought a cool touch to our research in the heat.
Peanut industry
The cultivated area of Gaoya village is not large, and the key production crops are peanuts. Yingge peanut butter, the peanut butter produced in the town, is the favorite seasoning of local villagers when it is sold to the outside world. According to the village secretary, it is not greasy to eat bread coated with this sauce for long.
With that, the village secretary sent us a can to taste. Just as everyone praised it, he was told that peanut butter has super high energy. It is said that a spoon is equal to a steamed bun, so everyone stopped laughing.
When we left, we all bought some jars of peanut butter to go back. As a souvenir, we also made a little contribution to the village.
Market corner
It coincides with the harvest of sweet potatoes, and the village fair is busy. Shouts, bargaining and laughter with Shandong's unique accent are full of local flavor.
Here I feel the strong human feelings, the simplicity of the local villagers and their love for the land.
Research interest
The team members had a lot of fun and took the villagers' trolley bus to go out for research, which had a special flavor in the crowd.
In the investigation, it is found that although the stone of lianqingshan can no longer be mined, the village still retains the traces of stone culture.
In addition to some houses built of stone, the team members also found the stone amulets on some houses, and the stone grinding plate at the door of some houses. They were eager to try to push each other and have fun with each other to experience the rural life.
Evening leisure
The bell of nature is beautiful, and the Yin and Yang cut the dawn. The mountain scenery in the evening is different from the beautiful scenery in the south, but reflects the majestic and magnificent scenery in the north.
In the distance, it can be seen that the farmers work leisurely at the edge of the field, and the setting sun lengthens their figure. Everything seems very peaceful and beautiful.
Toilet trip
On a hot afternoon, we walked into a grandparents' house on the east side of Tengping road.
Grandma is sitting at the door of the house, making containers out of bamboo strips. Grandpa warmly invites us into the house and treats us with the tea he just made. The strong fragrance of tea makes us forget the fatigue of our body for a while after working hard, and we are full of energy again.
Then we proposed to go to the toilet of grandparents' house and saw the picture below. This is a dry toilet built with bricks. The interior environment is bad, which brings a lot of inconvenience to our life. It makes us realize that the transformation of household toilets is imminent.
Rainbow after rain
In the evening when I first arrived at Gaoya village, there was a light rain. The villagers who were eating went outside the restaurant to watch rainbow, and the team members followed.
Although the rainbow under the setting sun is not very clear, it is affected by everyone's mood, reflecting the pink sky, which is particularly warm.
It is said that the rainbow has not been seen in Gaoya village for some time. It is seen by us today, which indicates that our research will be successful and complete. The team members also hope that our arrival will bring new atmosphere to Gaoya village.
