Sheng Huaijie was born and grew up in Suzhou, Anhui Province, which is known as the hometown of Chinese painting and calligraphy. Sheng Huaijie loved calligraphy, painting and literature since he was a child. After graduation from normal school, he became an art teacher. From then on, he taught and wrote while dancing. In order to explore the essence of painting and calligraphy art, he successively took mujiaqi, Dai Ze, Guo Gongda and Zhu xiukun as his teachers. Later, he was admitted to Nanjing University for postgraduate study. Although Sheng Huaijie is a professional, he still insists on learning from others. Taking advantage of his working opportunities in Beijing, he often consults with Wang Qi, Wang Xuezhong, Liu Dawei, Zhang Hai, Yang Xiaoyang, Huang Jun, Yao Shaohua, Chen Dazhang, Wu Huo, Ma Zhensheng and other predecessors, masters and famous artists with profound knowledge of calligraphy and painting, focusing on exploring the creation of calligraphy and landscape painting. According to the teachers' instruction, Sheng Huaijie adheres to the principle of "book first, painting and calligraphy equally", first of all, he enters into the tradition, learns from the ancients, and absorbs nutrition from the previous painting and calligraphy art. He practiced calligraphy mainly to catch up with the Qin and Han Dynasties, Zong Jin and Tang Dynasties, learn "two kings", and have his own appearance. He is good at all kinds of grass, official script and seal script, especially in cursive calligraphy. Sheng Huaijie has a deep background in literature, so he skillfully combines poetry with calligraphy, and often works well in calligraphy of hidden poems. Sheng Huaijie's calligraphy of Tibetan poems has not only the beauty of literary connotation, but also the beauty of the art form of calligraphy. It can be said that both the calligraphy and the text are flourishing, gradually forming its own distinctive and unique style of calligraphy, so it is called "Sheng's calligraphy", which is favored by people. So far, Sheng Huaijie has created more than one thousand pieces of Tibetan poems and calligraphy, most of which are collected by friends at home and abroad. Wang Qi, former party secretary and executive vice chairman of China Artists Association, is 95 years old. When Wang Laojiu was born at the age of ten, Sheng Huaijie gave him a calligraphy of Tibetan poems. Wang Lao was moved by his praise and excellent works, and praised and thanked him repeatedly.
Sheng Huaijie is famous for his traditional Chinese painting and landscape painting. He learned from the ancients, systematically copied and understood the masterpieces of Huang Gongwang of the Yuan Dynasty, Xu Wei of the Ming Dynasty, Shi Tao and "four kings" of the Qing Dynasty, Liu Haisu, Fu Baoshi, Guan Shanyue, Li Xiongcai of the modern times, and traveled all over the famous mountains and rivers, learning from the nature, and "making a draft of the peak". It is the dream of countless painters to climb and depict Huangshan, especially the first choice of Anhui painters. In order to paint Huangshan like masters Shi Tao and Liu Haisu, Sheng Huaijie created a Chinese landscape painting worthy of the times. Sheng Huaijie's landscape painting has three outstanding characteristics.
