While Apple has been refusing to accept the iPhone's warranty coverage because of water ingress, a recent piece of news reinforces the impression that the iPhone 11 is waterproof.
In early October last year, Lisa and Jacob Troyer from Montana took their daughter Sophie on a week-long trip to the Disney World, "fulfilling a little girl's dream," foreign media macrumors reported.
The Lisa family
It's frustrating that Lisa's iPhone 11 fell out of her bag on her last night at Disney World in Orlando, Florida, and sank into the seven sea lagoon, a small open water area in front of the Magic Kingdom of the park.
Because it's night, and the phone has fallen into the lake, Lisa believes the chances of getting it back are slim.
The next day, Lisa gave her contact information to an employee of Disney vision, who told him that there was a team of divers in the park who often recovered the lost goods. But Lisa's hopes are still slim. When she returned to Montana, she bought a new mobile phone and lived with her family as usual.
About two months later, Lisa received some missed calls from the Orlando area. She thought it was a telemarketer, so she ignored them. Later, when her father-in-law called, she knew that Disney had found her iPhone.
Lisa said Disney employees mailed her the iPhone 11, which she found to work despite being submerged for a long time.
"I've found all the photos taken by Disney on Halloween, and the phone seems to be in good condition except for the sand and some algae on the shell," she said The iPhone 11 is only protected by a thin silicone cover.
Lisa was impressed by the waterproof nature of the iPhone 11 and told her story in an email to Apple CEO Tim Cook, who thanked her for sharing the story. Then her husband, Jacob, passed the story on to macrumors.
Lisa said her husband has always been a loyal apple fan and revealed that one of the first gifts she bought was the first iPad.
