Last year, holiday buyers rushed to find the original airpods in retail stores and online retailers. This year looks like 2019 will be a repeat year: people who want to buy airpods Pro for people on the holiday list are already waiting for this hot accessory. A new report from Asia says Apple is doubling the production of popular earplugs to meet demand.
Since their debut in October, the $249 airpods Pro has been a hot product - many people with the original airpods are looking to upgrade to noise reduction models, and many more are looking for new silencers because they are the first airpods with a flexible silicone tip that can be customized for ear wear, active noise reduction and water resistance.
It wasn't until recently that Apple was able to meet demand, but now we're busy at the peak of the holiday season and there's a shortage. For example, when IDB checks on Wednesday morning, airpods Pro deliveries on Apple's website are not expected to be delivered after Christmas. Availability varies between retail stores and other online retailers.
According to the Nikkei Asia review, apple is recruiting new suppliers to meet the demand for new airpods pro, doubling its production from 1 million per month to 2 million per month.
