Biofiltration
Biofiltration is a typical air pollution control process for VOCs. The mass transfer of hydrophobic VOCs to biofilms is limited, resulting in less efficient removal of biofilms. In order to enhance the migration of hydrophobic organic matter, adding hydrophobic fumed silica to the biofilter can remove pentane and the like.
