Simple method for judging sealant performance

The sealant is formed into a strip from a plastic bottle, and the following properties can be tested or simply judged during the process of applying the glue and observing the strip.

(1) Squeezability: The squeezability of the glue can be initially felt through the difficulty of the glue.
(2) Curing performance: After the rubber strip is shot, the surface drying time, tack free time and complete curing time can be measured to determine whether the curing performance is normal.
(3) Thixotropy: After the rubber strip is driven, it will not be deformed when placed horizontally. The surface sealant is qualified as thixotropic.
(4) Hardness: After the rubber strip is completely cured (usually about 1-2 days), you can feel the hardness of the rubber strip by pressing it with your fingers. This method can make a relative comparison of the hardness.
(5) Strength, elasticity and elongation: Pulling the fully cured rubber strip can make relative judgments on strength, elasticity and elongation. When carrying out this experiment, we must pay attention to: we usually hit the rubber strip on the paper. After tearing the rubber strip from the paper, we often attach a layer of paper to the rubber strip. Elastic, it will tear when pulled, and at the same time, the adhesive tape on the paper will tear open a hole. Since the tear resistance of silicone sealants is generally low, the stress caused by stretching will be concentrated in the tear Cracks, it is easy to break the strip from here, affecting observation and judgment. The correct method is to hit the rubber strip on the plastic film, and then pull the rubber strip to judge the performance after the rubber strip is completely cured.
