The reporter learned from the biodiversity survey team of Nanjing University environmental planning and Design Institute on April 26 that the team members had recently observed more than 50 bruceae jarrows in a reed marsh in Xuwei New District, Lianyungang, Jiangsu Province. In addition, the team members also observed several or dozens of Brucea Javanica in Lianyungang linhonghekou wetland and shaoxianghe wetland.

"The discovery of Brucea Javanica in several wetlands in Lianyungang shows that this bird should have a stable population in Lianyungang, which also shows that the local wetland protection has achieved remarkable results." Yang Shixiong, the head of the investigation team, said.
Brucea Javanica is highly dependent on reed wetlands, which are mainly distributed in the eastern coastal areas of China. Due to the scarcity of population, the Brucea Javanica is also known as the "giant panda among birds" and listed as a global near threatened species by the World Conservation Union.

In recent years, Lianyungang has strengthened wetland protection, and the wetland ecosystem has gradually recovered. More and more birds are willing to stop and reproduce here.
